Exide Receives Poland's Highest Business AwardREADING, Pa. - Centra S.A., Exide Corporation's Polish subsidiary, has been presented with that country's most prestigious award, the Economic Award Statuette in terms of "Exporter." Republic of Poland President Aleksander Kwasniewski commended the company for emphasizing export sales (52 percent of sales); exports to Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine; certificates of quality received (ISO 9002, VA 6.1, QS 9000); and the promotion of Poland on the foreign markets. Krzysztof Paulus, Centra's President of the Management Board, received the honor on behalf of Centra and Exide. According to Paulus, Exide will continue to increase the intensity of export field activities, specifically within the Eastern European markets. Exide Corporation , with annual revenues of approximately $2.2 billion and operations in 23 countries, is the world's largest manufacturer of automotive and industrial lead-acid batteries and a leader in electric storage solutions.
