Metso Corporation to Supply Fuel Nozzles for Diesel Engines of Man B&W

    HELSINKI, Finland - Santasalo Powdermet, a part of Metso Corporation's 
machinery business area, and MAN B&W Diesel A/S from Denmark have entered a 
long-term agreement on the global delivery of fuel nozzles for large diesel 
engines.  The good fatigue, wear and corrosion properties of the nozzles, 
manufactured by Santasalo by powder metallurgical methods, make it possible to 
improve the economy of engine operation. Production deliveries of the nozzles 
will be started immediately.

    MAN B&W is one of the world's leading developers and suppliers of diesel
engine technology.

    Santasalo Powdermet, which belongs to the Santasalo group in Metso's
Machinery business area, is a material technology company which has
specialized in the use of powder metallurgy in machine parts manufacturing.
It employs 15 persons in Finland, Sweden and Great Britain.  In 1999, the
company's net sales were EUR 6 million.

    Metso Corporation's Gears and Components group (Santasalo) develops,
manufactures and supplies industrial gears and hydraulic motors and provides
related maintenance services.  It also provides designing, manufacturing and
expert services related to machine construction.  The group's net sales for
1999 totaled EUR 103 million, and the number of its personnel approximately
1,250.

    Metso Corporation is a global supplier of process industry machinery and
systems.  In addition to fiber and paper technology, Metso's business areas
are automation and control technology and machinery.  The net sales of Metso
