Magliochetti Takes the Reins as New MEMA ChairmanRESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. - Joseph M. Magliochetti, chairman, president, and CEO, Dana Corp., Toledo, Ohio, assumed office as chairman of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association board of directors during the association's recent board meeting in San Diego, Calif. Magliochetti, 58, started his career as a management trainee at Victor Manufacturing Co., Chicago, in 1966. Following Dana's acquisition of Victor in 1967, he worked in a variety of sales, engineering, and manufacturing positions at several Dana divisions. In 1975 he moved to the Service Parts Group as plant manager of the Churubusco, Ind., Distribution Center. He was promoted to general manager of the Spicer Clutch Division in 1978, and was named that division's vice president and general manager the following year. In 1980, Magliochetti was named director of drivetrain components for Dana Engineering Ltd., Dana Europe. Later that year, he was appointed president of Dana Europe, with responsibility for all Europe and Middle East operations. In 1985, he returned to the United States as group vice president of North American Operations, with a primary focus on industrial and mobile off-highway customers. He was named president of automotive - North American Operations in 1990. In 1992, Magliochetti became president of North American Operations and was appointed to the Dana Policy Committee. He was promoted to president of Dana Corp. in 1996, and was elected to the company's Board of Directors later that year. In 1997, he was appointed chairman of Dana's World Operating Committee. Later that year, he was elected chief operating officer. He was named president and chief executive officer in 1999, and elected chairman in early 2000. Magliochetti has served as MEMA vice chairman since 1997. He is a member of the MEMA-Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association Liaison Committee and serves as chairman of the Management Information Systems Group (MISG) Advisory Board, a MEMA division. He is active in MEMA peer groups Automotive Presidents Council (APC) and Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA). He was a speaker at Heavy Duty Dialogue 2000 in February and has spoken at a joint meeting of the APC and the Automotive Public Relations Council (APRC), a MEMA peer group.
