Federal-Mogul Honors European Patent Award Winners

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Federal-Mogul Corporation recently celebrated the 
technological leadership and entrepreneurial spirit of its employees during its 
second annual European Inventor Awards Dinner held in Remscheid, Germany.
    
    Twenty-one employees from Federal-Mogul facilities across Europe were
available to participate in the celebration honoring their innovations, which
earned United States and European patents in 1999.

    "Technically advanced products are the keys to the future of our
business," said Alan Begg, vice president, Technology.  "I am very proud of
the exceptional technical talent we have that continues to generate such a
wealth of innovative ideas.  The patents we have had granted are a very
visible reflection of the great work that goes on in our technical centers
across the world in developing new products and processes."

    Commemorative plaques were presented to the following Federal-Mogul
inventors.  European inventors not available for the Awards Dinner were
recognized in private ceremonies in their home facilities.

    * From Aubange, Belgium:  Patrice Jandin.
    * From Bradford, England:  Bryan C. Knott.
    * From Chapel-en-le-Frith, England:  Anthony J. Brewin and Bryan C. Knott.
    * From Herdorf, Germany:  Alfons Bohl, Hans Georg Duber, Hubert Koehler,
       Dieter Reifenrother, and Franz-Josef Wagner.
    * From Nurnberg, Germany:  Edgar Martin and Stephan Thieme.
    * From Wiesbaden, Germany:  Achim Adam, Stefan Fuchsberger, Peter Hoppe-
       Boeken, Hans-Ulrich Huhn, Horst Mann, Klaus Muller, Fritz Niegel,
       Eckhart Schopf, Klaus Staschko, Michael Steeg, and Hjalmer Weiland.

    A counterpart Inventors Award Dinner to honor American inventors for their
innovations, which earned United States and European patents in 1999, will
take place this fall at the World Headquarters in Southfield.

    Federal-Mogul also recognizes its inventors during the patent filing and
production stages with cash awards.

    Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, Federal-Mogul is an automotive
parts manufacturer providing innovative solutions and systems to global
customers in the automotive, small engine, heavy-duty and industrial markets.
The company was founded in 1899.
