But the event will also be a bit of a homecoming for one team in particular - the Harley-Davidson factory squad. At the Lima event, legendary Harley tuner Bill Werner will receive a medal commemorating his induction into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame located at AMA headquarters in Pickerington, Ohio. Werner was due to receive this medal during the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, July 8 at 4 p.m. at the museum, but will be busy with his team in Hutchinson, Kansas that day. Adding to the excitement will be the return of Scott Parker, the rider who complemented Bill Werner's tuning talents to become the all-time winningest dirt-tracker in history. Parker will join a field of racers including series points leader Chris Carr. Carr enjoys an 11-point lead in the series and is looking to expand that lead at Lima. Putting pressure on Carr is Euless, Texas, native Terry Poovey, with 45 points. Just 3-points behind Poovey is Joe Kopp, who has been on fire so far this season. Adding to the thunderous roar of the Grand National event will be the second SuperTrapp SuperTracker race of the season. The SuperTrackers were dominated by Suzuki in their inaugural season, but Harley-Davidson and rider Mike Hacker took the checkers at Harrington, Del., in the first 2000 SuperTracker meet. Lima promoter Dave McCarthy is helping to pump up sponsor Progressive Insurance, by offering a free event program to any fan who gets an insurance quote from the folks in the Progressive Insurance tent. So stop by, get a quote, take home a program, and add a dollar to the rider point fund, courtesy of Progressive, all at the same time. While at the Lima half-mile be sure to stop by the Progressive Insurance tent, near the grand stand entrance, for rider autograph sessions, video games, free magnetic schedules, posters and other giveaway items. Once there you can Support the Sport by calling 1-800-FLAT-TRACK on the hotline or by receiving an on-line quote on the Progressive computer. Don't forget, for every quote made through 1-800-FLAT-TRACK, Progressive pays $1 into the rider point fund.
