James P. Holden Named President and Chief Executive Officer, DaimlerChrysler Corporation

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - DaimlerChrysler AG Chairman Juergen E. Schrempp 
announced today the appointment of James P. Holden as Chief Executive Officer 
of DaimlerChrysler Corporation, effective July 1, 2000, in addition to his 
current role as President.

    "Jim's experience is key at this important time in our company's history,"
said Juergen E. Schrempp, Chairman, DaimlerChrysler AG.  "As CEO of the
business unit that produces our Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge products, I expect
that Jim will provide the leadership necessary for success in the highly
competitive North American market and beyond."

    As President and CEO, Jim Holden has full executive, operational, and
administrative responsibilities for DCC, and Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Mopar
businesses.  His role is broadened both internally and externally and includes
interface with federal, state, local, union and other industry leaders.
