Weisberg as director of content and community for PlanetCAD.Weisberg joins PlanetCAD after gaining widespread industry respect as editor of Engineering Automation Report, an independent newsletter with a reputation for unbiased and in-depth reporting throughout the CAD/CAM/CAE industries.
PlanetCAD (www.planetcad.com) is Spatial's flagship Web portal providing aggregated engineering application services and best-of-breed content and community for the digital manufacturing supply chain. The site just increased membership past 7,000 members, who represent manufacturing and design engineers from almost every manufacturing industry across more than 90 countries.
"PlanetCAD's mission is to provide the premier destination for manufacturing design engineers worldwide," Weisberg said. "My efforts will be directed to creating and aggregating a vibrant and unbiased content and interactive resource for PlanetCAD that will appeal to the individual design engineer and add to the success already experienced with PlanetCAD's application services including 3Dshare.com(tm), 3Dpublish.com(tm) and Bits2Parts.com(tm)."

He became the editor of the publication during his second year, and wrote the majority of content over the past two years. The founder of the newsletter, his father David Weisberg, remained as publisher and senior contributor. During this time, the publication became one of the first engineering publications to be delivered by paid subscription across the Internet and the same business model was extended to the sibling newsletter, A-E-C Automation Newsletter.
Weisberg graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder, with a bachelor's degree in business administration focusing on entrepreneurship and small business management. He was involved in a number of small business start-ups including market research, publishing and sales before joining Engineering Automation Report in 1995.
