American Axle & Manufacturing To Hold Cheektowaga Facility Grand Opening on June 20

TONAWANDA, N.Y. - American Axle & Manufacturing will celebrate the grand
opening of its Cheektowaga Facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception
at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20.

The event will begin with remarks from AAM leadership, government
officials, and union officials -- all of whom supported the establishment of
the new facility and the new value-added operations performed there. Remarks
will be followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the plant. Guests
are invited to stay for a reception; all festivities will conclude by noon.

AAM purchased the 115,000-square-foot Cheektowaga Facility, formerly a
Builder's Square building, in April 1999. Today, 120 new AAM associates are
working in the Cheektowaga Facility, using the latest technology, tooling and
equipment to machine net-shaped gears. The gears are shipped to the facility
from AAM's Tonawanda Forge Plant a few miles away. This machining operation
had previously been performed by AAM suppliers outside of New York.

"The addition of this value-added operation helps AAM maintain its
leadership position within the forging industry while also helping Western
New York add jobs and increase its manufacturing base," said AAM Forging
Division General Manager Ronald J. Allman. "This growth would not have been
possible without the support of UAW (United Auto Workers) and IAM
(International Association of Machinists) leaders or local, regional, and
state government officials."

AAM is a world leader in the manufacture, engineering, validation and
design of driveline systems, chassis systems and forged products for trucks,
buses, sport utility vehicles, and passenger cars. In addition to its
13 locations in the United States (in Michigan, New York and Ohio), AAM also
has offices and facilities in Brazil, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and
