Fahl Named Executive Vice President

    FINDLAY, Ohio - COOPER TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY has appointed John Fahl to the position of executive vice president of the corporation. This appointment is in addition to his current responsibilities as president of Cooper Tire and head of the North American tire division. Previously in addition to his Tire Group responsibilities, he had been a vice president of Cooper Tire & Rubber Company.

    Since joining the company in 1955, Fahl has held various positions in technical, manufacturing and transportation before joining the purchasing department in 1962. He was named corporate director of purchasing in 1966, and was elected a vice president in 1978. In 1992, he was elected to the board of directors and was named president of the Tire Group in 1994.

    "John Fahl is one of the most highly regarded tire executives in the world and has served our entire organization as a director and corporate vice president," said Thomas A. Dattilo, Cooper's chairman, president and CEO, in making the announcement. "His appointment is very well deserved."

    Fahl attended Denison University and is a graduate of advanced management programs at Harvard University and Bowling Green State University.

    He is a director of the Peoples Banking Company (Findlay, Ohio) and the Rurban Financial Corp. (Defiance, Ohio). He is active in the American Chemical Society and Rubber Groups in Akron, Ohio, Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Chicago, Ill. He is a member of the National Association of Purchasing Agents, and a member of the Tire Management Committee of the Rubber Manufacturers Association.
