Leading Wheel Manufacturer to Establish North American Headquarters At Alliance

FORT WORTH, Texas - Hillwood has leased 79,868 square feet at its Alliance development in North Texas to Enkei International, the world's leading manufacturer of aluminum wheels. The facility will serve as the North American headquarters and distribution center for the Japan-based company's aftermarket division.

Enkei initially will employ 45 people in the facility, which is located in the Gateway 14 building at 4900 Alliance Gateway Freeway in Fort Worth, Texas. The company will be operational at this location by July 2000.

"Alliance offers many advantages, including a great quality of life and one of the largest intermodal centers in the country," said Enkei Project Manager Mike Anderson. "The rail connection is vital because all of our products arrive at the Port of Long Beach, where they are transferred to train. Also two-thirds of our customers are located in the Southern third of the United States."

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Intermodal center makes Alliance an inland port, accepting shipments by rail from the East and West Coast and the Gulf of Mexico. Located on the west side of the 9,600-acre Alliance development, the intermodal facility recorded a single-year high 400,000 lifts in 1999.

"Hillwood looks forward to providing an atmosphere at Alliance for Enkei to grow and increase its presence as the top provider of aluminum wheels in the world," said Hillwood Marketing Manager Steve Aldrich. "Enkei joins a growing list of companies at Alliance that are the best in their respective fields."

While Enkei develops and manufactures aluminum wheels for both OEM and aftermarket distribution for automobiles and motorcycles around the world, Enkei International has taken the initiative to become the industry leader in aftermarket aluminum wheel development and distribution.

Alliance is the premier e-commerce logistics and fulfillment center in the country. In just over a decade, the development has attracted more than 90 companies, including 27 from the Fortune 500. These firms have invested $4 billion to build 14.9 million square feet, create 16,000 fulltime jobs and generate $80 million in property taxes. Recently, Alliance was named the Development of the Decade by the Dallas Business Journal.

Hillwood is one step ahead of a changing world, using technology and innovation to create better places to live, work, learn and play. In addition to Alliance, Hillwood's other projects are the dynamic 75-acre Victory project that includes American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas; Circle T Ranch in Westlake, Texas; Heritage in north Fort Worth; prestigious golf courses in Houston, Los Angeles and Westlake, Texas; and residential communities in Dallas-Fort Worth, as well as on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii.
