Avis Group Names William E. Madison Senior Vice President And Chief Human Resources Officer

    GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Avis Group Holdings, Inc. announced today that William 
E. Madison has joined the Company and has been named to the position of Senior 
Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer.  Madison will be part of the 
Company's Senior Leadership Team and will report directly to A. Barry Rand, 
Avis Group Chairman and CEO.

instrumental role in our ongoing efforts to develop and align corporate-wide

    Madison joins Avis from E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company in Wilmington,
Delaware, where he was most recently Vice President, Global Human Resource
Strategy and President, U.S. Region.  He was instrumental in developing a
corporate-wide variable pay plan that linked individual performance with the
Company's success.  He also implemented a global employee opinion survey
process and was responsible for significantly increasing the diversity of the
global workforce.  Prior to DuPont, Madison spent twenty-three years with
Xerox Corporation where he held domestic and international Human Resource
Leadership and Quality positions.  Madison is a graduate of City College of
New York and the Executive Development Program at Harvard Business School.

    Madison and his wife, Barbara, have two children; Kristen, who is an
attorney on Long Island, New York and Bill Jr., who is a freshman at Union
College.

    Avis is one of the world's leading providers of comprehensive automotive
transportation and vehicle management solutions, with strengths in car rental,
vehicle leasing, and vehicle management services.  Avis operates the second
largest general-use car rental business in the world, with locations in the
United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Latin American Caribbean
region.  Avis operates the vehicle management and fuel card business through
three separate units: PHH North America, PHH Europe and Wright Express.  The
services of these units consist of vehicle leasing and a broad range of
vehicle related fee based services.  The Company manages approximately
1 million vehicles and has over 4 million fuel cards and maintenance cards
outstanding.  Annually, on a pro forma basis, the Company generates
approximately $4.0 billion in total revenue.
