Yazaki Europe Limited Named Top Supplier by Volvo Car Corporation

    ELSTREE, England - Yazaki Europe Limited a leading supplier of vehicle power
and data solutions to the automotive industry, announced today that it was named
a "best supplier" by Volvo Cars Corporation for 1999.  YEL received the Volvo 
Cars Award of Excellence for its contributions in instrumentation and wiring.  
Volker Heuzeroth, president and CEO of YEL, made the announcement.

    "This was indeed an honor for YEL," said Heuzeroth, "Volvo Cars
Corporation is world renowned for the quality of its vehicles.  YEL is proud
to be a part of that fine tradition, and pleased that Volvo recognized our
contribution."

    Award recipients must meet stringent standards for quality, logistics,
environmental awareness, sourcing, R & D, cost reduction, productivity, and
aftermarket activities to be considered a "best supplier."

    The selection was made from Volvo's 475 suppliers.  From that number, 30
candidates emerged, and finally, four companies were recognized as the
companies that performed best last year.  The jury was made up of Bertil
Thoren, head of purchasing for Volvo, Curt Germundsson, head of car
manufacturing, and Hans Gustavsson, head of product and process engineering.

    "The aim of the award is to acknowledge supplier work that goes beyond the
norm and to encourage further improvements," said Thoren.

    The award was presented by Volvo Cars Corporation president Tuve
Johannesson during a ceremony at the company's headquarters in Gothenburg,
Sweden.  Goran Stolt, branch manager of Yazaki Europe Limited, and Tom Varley,
director of sales and cost estimating for Yazaki North America, Inc.'s Ford
Business Unit received the award on behalf of YEL.
