CASCAR Castrol Super Series West - Medicine Hat Results

Medicine Hat 150
Late race pass gives Carl Harr Medicine Hat victory

MEDICINE HAT, AB - The CASCAR Castrol Super Series West held its second
race of the season, on Saturday night, at Medicine Hat Speedway. Series
veteran Carl Harr passed Dan Shirley with just a handful of laps remaining
in the Medicine Hat 150 to claim victory at the 1/3-mile, banked oval.
Harr, who hails from Edmonton, AB, was involved in an early race incident
with slower traffic, which knocked him off the track and to the back of the
pack. But the Chevrolet Monte Carlo driver worked his way back through the
field and started to hound fellow Chevy driver Shirley as the laps wound down.
On lap 144, Harr was able to get by Shirley - who won the season opener at
Saskatoon the previous weekend - and held on for his first Super Series win
in several seasons. Ford driver Trevor Seibert, of Williams Lake, BC, was
the runner-up in his second career CASCAR start. The experienced road racer
has earned podium finishes in both CASCAR outings.
Shirley, of Saskatoon, SK, held on for third in the 18-car field.
Calgarian Wade Lee led the first lap of the 150 lap affair but saw
Edmonton's Kevin Dowler zip into the lead on lap 2. The Ford Quality Care
Taurus driver held the point until lap 64 when a deflating tire took him
out of contention. Shirley assumed control of the race and did all he could
to hold off Harr until the lap 144 pass.
