Timken Steel E-business Strategy Now Includes MetalSite.net

CANTON, Ohio - The Timken Corporation announced today key steps taken to
further its e-business strategy for alloy and carbon steel products.

"Making Timken(R) steel available online represents our ongoing commitment
to bringing more value to our relationship with customers," said Diana S.
Gats, director - new business development and marketing - steel. "Toward that
end, we're capitalizing on the best vehicles available to foster profitable
growth, including our own resources and those available within the industry."

For several months, the company's own e-business service has provided
real-time access to Timken 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Through
Timken(R) Direct(SM) ( http://www.direct.timken.com ), registered steel customers can
track order status and view available inventory in the Fast-Track Tubing(TM)
product warehouses located in Ohio and North Carolina -- within a secure
electronic environment.

To complement Timken Direct, the company is now selling a selection of
alloy and carbon steel bar products on MetalSite.net. MetalSite is an
industry-leading online metals exchange that offers Timken the opportunity to
provide enhanced value-chain management to customers, while profitably growing
the steel business.

"Using MetalSite as a sales channel for a select group of our products is
one more step in the implementation of our overall corporate e-business
strategy to achieve profitable growth," said Thomas W. Strouble, senior vice
president - e-business.

MetalSite is a global, unbiased and secure Web-based marketplace developed
to facilitate the online sale and purchase of prime and non-prime metal products

industry news and information from around the world. The site is open to all
buyers and sellers of metal products. Buyer and associate registrations are
free. MetalSite's functionality is provided by proprietary software,
