ARCA: Trio of Truck triumphs for Troy

6 June 2000

Fort Wayne, IN, 6-3-00 - Troy Marciniak took advantage of a spin and a
sputter to win the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series 50 lap main event
Saturday night at Baer Field Speedway, his third consecutive ARCA Truck
triumph after 4 events.

"We were lucky tonight - in the right place at the right time," said
Marciniak. "But being lucky is part of the deal in racing, and you have
to be there to have the opportunity to be lucky, and we were certainly
there all night long. I'd like to thank my Dad and the crew for all the
support. We had a terrible year last year, broke a bunch of motors so to
have it turn in the other direction means a lot to this team. I think at
times we all were doubting ourselves last year, but not any more. This
Marciniak Motorsports-A&A Manufacturing Chevy crew is pumped. It sure
feels great to win. I'm happy for everyone who works this deal. We could
get use to this."

Second generation driver Bobby Marvin finished a close second in the Ed
& Company-Stat Express Delivery Ford ahead of Joseph Wormcastle, Robbin
Slaughter and Jeff Speakman the top-five.

Marciniak, who had raced in the top-five for the duration, inherited the
lead after late race leader Chad Guinn blew an engine with less than two
laps to go. That was just after race leader Wormcastle spun resulting
from a nudge by Slaughter. Wormcastle, who led most of the way, had
constant pressure from Slaughter and was less than 2 laps from his
career-first ARCA Truck win when the leaders encountered lapped traffic.
While Wormcastle opted for the brake pedal, Slaughter was still working
the throttle and contact was made. Wormcastle spun, and both machines
were put to the tail-end of the lead-lap cars for the restart. Shortly
after taking the green flag, Guinn, who won the Hoosier Tire Pole Award
earlier with a new one-lap track record, blew the engine heading down
the backstretch. Also involved in the melee were Jeff Speakman who spun
in Guinn's oil and Bill Withers who cut down a tire. That set up another
green-white-checker finish with Marciniak now at the helm. When racing
resumed, Marciniak had a hard-charging Marvin in his mirror but denied
the challenge and streaked across the final stripe with a 2 length
advantage over the runner-up finisher.

Wormcastle, who won the Cloyes Gear Halfway Leader Award, recovered
nicely from his troubles and raced back for a top-five as did Slaughter
who chased Wormcastle under the checkered flag with Speakman in tow.
Tully Esterline stayed out of trouble and finished sixth and defending
champ Withers finished seventh after pitting to replace a cut tire. Kyle
Witwer won the Ed & Company Hard Charger Award for racing from 18th to
eighth in the final running order while Michael Carter and Jack Weethee
completed the top-10.

Next event for the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will be Saturday,
June 10th at Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana, the first
appearance for the ARCA Trucks at the half mile Indiana oval.
