Tracks: Speedway official release from duties at Irwindale

3 June 2000

Irwindale, Calif. - - FOR THE RECORD: One of Irwindale Speedway's NASCAR technical
inspectors was released from his track duties due to a potential conflict of
interest between his work as a NASCAR official at the Speedway and a job that
he had recently accepted.

Frank Farrell, of Newhall, was officially notified of his release by the Speedway's
Director of Competition, Chris Morgan, on Thursday, May 25, 2000.

"We can't afford to have even the slightest appearance of a possible bias in
technical matters at the Speedway," said Robert A. DeFazio, the track's VP/COO.
"It's unfortunate, but when Mr. Farrell took a position with a company that
builds and fields cars which compete here at Irwindale Speedway, his neutrality
in performing his tech duties could be called into question by other competitors."

"Everyone at Irwindale Speedway thanks him for the fine job he did for us, wishes
Frank well, and expects to see him back at the track often in his new job,"
DeFazio concluded.
