American Suzuki Reports Sales for May 2000

American Suzuki Automotive Sales Up 33 Percent Over May 1999; Year-to-Date Sales Up 29 Percent
    BREA, Calif., June 1 American Suzuki Motor Corporation's
automotive sales climbed briskly in May, posting increases across its car and
SUV model line.  The Automotive Division sold 5,565 vehicles this month, a
33-percent increase over last May.  The flagship Grand Vitara sold well
through the month, posting 2,645 sales, a 36-percent increase over May 1999.
The Vitara, Esteem and Swift also posted increases for the month and calendar
year-to-date.
    "Buyers continue to appreciate Suzuki's well-appointed, fuel-efficient
cars and SUVs," said Gary Anderson, vice president of sales.  "Year-to-date,
American Suzuki sales are 41 percent ahead of 1999."
