Audi's 2000 Record Pace Continues with Best May Sales Since 1985AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 1 Audi of America's record setting pace in 2000 continues in May, reporting total sales of 6,963 for the month, an increase of 27.6 percent over May 1999 when sales were 5,459. May represents the fifth consecutive month in 2000 where the company posted year- over-year sales gains. Audi year-to-date sales increased 48.7 percent to 33,471 versus the 22,510 vehicles sold during the first five months of last year. Audi's hot-selling TT posted major monthly sales gains with the continued introduction of the all-new 2001 Roadster and 225-horsepower Coupe. April sales totaled 1,091 units. Double-digit growth was seen from the A6 range with 2,661 sales, up 60.1 percent over the same month last year when sales totaled 1,662. The Audi A4 continues its strong sales with 3,033 for the month, up 19.6 percent. Audi's all-aluminum flagship A8 reported total sales of 178, off 19 percent from May 1999 due to limited availability. In May, the new A8 L accounted for 69.1 percent of all A8 sales.
