    MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich., June 1 The Detroit Regional
Chamber Leadership Policy Conference opened today with a keynote presentation
by DaimlerChrysler president James Holden.  

    The Detroit Regional Chamber Leadership Policy Conference is Michigan's
premier public-policy forum bringing together private- and public-sector
leaders to discuss issues of importance to Southeast Michigan.

Other highlights of the three-day conference include speeches by political
analysts Steve and Cokie Roberts; Daniel Burrus, author of "Technotrends";
Darrien Dash, CEO of DME Interactive Holdings; and author and political
satirist Al Franken.  Public-policy sessions will focus on education, land
use, urban centers, transportation, arts and culture, information technology,
and much more.
