MetLife(R) Auto & Home Now Offers Cash Rewards in Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Washington to Its Teen Drivers Who Drive Safely

MetLife(R) Auto & Home Now Offers Cash Rewards
US Savings Bonds for Teens Who Log 20 Drives with a Parent

WARWICK, R.I., June 1 By rewarding teen drivers on their
auto insurance policies with $50 each year they drive with no accidents,
claims, or violations, MetLife Auto & Home is aiming to establish good driving
habits during its teens' first years on the road. The company's "Teens on the
Road to Safety" program includes "Drive Safe and Cash In," which encourages
young drivers to drive safely, buckle up, and never drink and drive. The
company reminds young drivers of this important message throughout the
program, which is being offered to more teens insured by MetLife Auto & Home
beginning June 1.
"MetLife Auto & Home is working diligently to reverse the deadly trend of
more than 7,000 teens losing their lives on America's roadways each year,"
says president and CEO, Catherine Rein. "Perhaps enrollment in this program
will at least serve as a reminder for teens to drive with the utmost caution,"
she added.
The program includes "Sunday Drive," in which teens can earn a $100 US
Savings Bond for logging 20 drives with a parent or guardian in the co-pilot
seat. "This is our way of trying to establish parental influence on the
teen's driving, and to acquaint parents with their child's driving habits,"
explains Rein.
To help map the way, MetLife Auto & Home offers its step-by-step guide
"Teaching Your Teens to Drive (Without Driving Each Other Crazy)." This
popular 16-page booklet was reviewed by the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration and is available free to the public by calling 1-800-MET-LIFE.
MetLife Auto & Home offers the cash award and savings bond programs for
teen drivers on its auto policies in California, Maryland, Mississippi,
Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and
Washington. Informational pieces to help parents of teens are available free
to everyone countrywide.
