Farmers Offers Loss Reporting Via the Internet

LOS ANGELES--June 1, 2000--Farmers Insurance Group today announced that its customers can now report losses via the Internet by simply linking to the Farmers Web site at http://www.farmersinsurance.com and clicking on the words "Claims Information."
Once a Farmers customer accesses the Claims Web page, they will be able to enter information such as their policy number, details surrounding the loss, where they can be contacted and the best time for Farmers to contact them.
A reference number will be issued online and a Farmers representative will contact the customer within two hours to begin the process of restoring everything back to normal. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"This is just the first of many steps Farmers will be taking over the next 12 months to make the loss reporting process easier and more convenient for our customers," said Rubin Snowden, Farmers' vice president of Personal Lines Claims.
Snowden added that besides loss reporting via the Internet, customers soon will be able to call a nationwide, toll-free telephone number any time of the day or night and talk directly with a fully trained customer care representative.
These representatives will not only take loss reports, but will also access emergency service vendors such as tow trucks, rental car agencies, emergency repair specialists and hotels, to help solve customers' most immediate problems.
"This will usher in the era of one-call loss reporting," said Snowden. "In most cases, the customer's problem will be solved with one phone call."
In addition, Snowden said customers will soon be able to track, via the Internet, the progress made on resolving their losses and restoring their property back to order.
"Farmers makes a promise in our advertising that we will get our customers back where they belong after a loss," Snowden said. "With this new way of doing things, Farmers truly delivers on that promise."
Farmers is the nation's third-largest home and auto insurer. With headquarters in Los Angeles and doing business in 41 states, Farmers provides home, auto, business and life insurance to more than 8 million households through 15,000 agents and district managers.
