PolyTek Rubber & Recycling Acquires Additional Manufacturing Facilities; Now is World's Largest Crumb Rubber Producer

PHOENIX--PolyTek Rubber & Recycling Inc. Thursday announced that it has acquired the NRI manufacturing facilities in Flat Rock, Mich. and Chambersburg, Pa., said Clay Richards, vice president of marketing for PolyTek.
These acquisitions make Phoenix-based PolyTek the single-largest crumb rubber producer in the world. PolyTek now owns and operates five production facilities nationwide. The company's other locations are in Queen Creek, Ariz.; Bristow, Okla.; and Johnson City, Tenn.
Crumb rubber essentially is ground rubber in varying sizes, ranging in size from two inches to minus 100 fine mesh, roughly the consistency of talc powder. The product is manufactured from scrap tires and is used in the production of athletic surfaces, playground surfaces, asphalt blending, new tires and extruded goods and molding applications.
"As we continue to grow and expand, our focus remains consistent -- strong growth supported by a quality product and good service," said Richards. "PolyTek will continue to focus on selling its product into four different markets segments: asphalt rubber, extruded & molded goods, sports surfaces and the new tire industry."
PolyTek Rubber & Recycling is a privately held company founded in 1996. It currently sells its products throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
