Just One Stone? Try WACA

If you’re after a couple of birds with just one stone, the Women’s
Automotive Communications Awards (WACA) might be your best shot. A WACA
entry not only means the opportunity to vie for a prestigious award, it also
means support for the Car Care Council’s Women’s Board.

The Women’s Board developed the awards two years ago in an effort to
recognize companies who promoted automotive information to women via
outstanding advertising and marketing. Since then the awards and reception,
held during Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week, have been a big hit.

"Variety is part of what makes these awards so interesting," says Donna
Wagner, Director of the Women’s Board. "We allow everything from print to TV
to Internet to special promotions to PR efforts. The bottom line is this: if
your business is marketing to women, we want your effort represented at this
event."

Some examples of former winners include Car Care for the Clueless, a handout
that helps non-technical women understand their vehicles. Another is a radio
commercial featuring a mom who shops for bargains, but not when it comes to
auto safety. A third is a web publication for women interested in purchasing
a used car.

Competition is open on both regional and national levels. Any client, agency
or supplier who has produced automotive advertising or communications
targeted to women is eligible.

Entries must have been produced or mailed between July 1, 1999 and June 30,
2000. Entries will be accepted through September 15, 2000. New for 2000 are
categories for business-to-business marketing.

Dedicated to educating women about automotive care and careers, the Women’s
Board is a professional organization of the Car Care Council. More
information and entry forms are available on the Council’s web site at
www.carcarecouncil.org/waca.htm or by contacting Mary Ann Snider at
1-800-466-5343.
