FORD Turns to TMM for Auto Parts Distribution in Mexico

    MEXICO CITY - Transportacion Maritima Mexicana, S.A. de C.V. , the 
largest Latin American multi-modal transportation and logistics company and 
owner of the controlling interest in Mexico's busiest railway, TFM, announced 
that it recently received a contract from Ford Motor Company to manage the 
logistics, transportation, and distribution of after-market auto parts 
throughout Mexico.

    TMM has already implemented the new distribution network.  The company
anticipates that the new three-year contract will produce approximately
$3 million of new incremental revenue for TMM's Land Operations Group.  This
dedicated trucking distribution network employs 34 full time tractors and
trailers and distributes after-market auto parts to 147 auto and auto parts
dealers throughout the country.

    "As the transportation leader in Mexico, we are very pleased to have
expanded our relationship with Ford, which is already extensive as a result of
our involvement in transporting parts and completed vehicles by road, rail,
and sea," said Javier Segovia, TMM's president.  "We believe we can take
advantage of significant efficiencies in helping Ford supply its customers,
providing superior service and also cost efficiencies for Ford."
