'Arts and Autos' Shows Off Conventional & Unconventional Art

31 May 2000

Exhibit at the Automotive Hall of Fame Displays Wide Range of Art Styles
DEARBORN, Mich. - Automotive art, of the traditional and not-so-traditional
kind, will be on exhibit at the Automotive Hall of Fame during "Arts and Autos."

Arts and Autos will be held on two days, June 3 and 4, from 10 a.m. to
4 p.m. Admission to the Hall of Fame will be free both days. The event will
be held in conjunction with Dearborn's "14th Annual Art on the Avenue" and
"Food Festival" events.

"Arts and Autos" will feature "art cars" -- vehicles which are covered,
glued, adorned, painted and embellished until they take on the life of a
whimsical collage. Also on hand will be automotive designs rendered in more
traditional media, including oil paintings, acrylics and sculpture.

A highlight of the day will be a Kids "Auto Art" Tent, featuring adult-
supervised activities. Young people can try their hand at clay modeling and
producing their own mini "art car." There will also be an activity book to
take home -- full of cars to color, games and more. Young and old alike can
also buy tickets to take part in a "Pit Stop" Auction.

A Bugatti/Ferrari Showcase will feature classic vehicles, a tribute to the
two men who created these two elegant car lines. Both Enzo Ferrari and Ettori
Bugatti will be inducted into the Hall of Fame October 12.

The Automotive Hall of Fame is designed to be a visitor attraction and
educational resource. It celebrates accomplished people of the worldwide
motor vehicle industry for the purpose of inspiring others, especially young
people, to higher levels of achievement in their own work and lives. It is a
unique "people place" of innovation and inspiration where interactive
experiences and one-on-one demonstrations are entertaining and enlightening.
