Visteon Helps Local Elementary Students Get Connected to LearningDETROIT, May 31 As a technology-driven company, Visteon Corporation understands the importance of an educated workforce. But the company also understands that learning starts early in life. Through Visteon's "See the possibilities(TM)" Fund, the corporation helped the students of Fairbanks Elementary School in Detroit by donating and installing 32 computers, and helping network seven color printers. An 11-member team of employees led the project from Visteon's Information Technology Department. "This was truly a team effort," said Dave Bent, chief information officer, Visteon Corporation. "I think it says a lot that they took the initiative and helped get these elementary students access to computers." Working with the school's principal, Faire Carter, team members, Bob Segna, April Washnock, Stefan Blache, Tony Kolman, Dave Sugg, Marvin Taylor, Scott Korobkin, JoJo Noceda, Ted Corly, Ted Miller and Jason Vardon donated their time and computer networking expertise to help get 16 classrooms and a handful of school offices connected to a variety of software programs and the Internet. "The computers and printers will help propel our boys and girls into the highly technical 21st century," said Carter. "Because of Visteon's generosity, we now have computers in every classroom enabling our students to become computer literate. We appreciate the relentless effort to secure computers with CD-ROM drives to accommodate the software we had already purchased."
