SAE Workshop Addresses Emission Reduction Technologies for SUVs
WARRENDALE, Pa., May 30 Automakers and fuel researchers
will discuss advancements in low pollution engine technology and improvements
in fuel efficiency for SUVs at the Society of Automotive Engineers
(SAE International) sponsored "Clean SUV and Light Truck TOPTEC(R): Focus on
EPA's Tier II Standards," June 8-9, 2000 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in
Dearborn, Michigan.
This TOPical TEChnical workshop will feature invited experts who will
discuss the latest developments in emission control technology, vehicle
systems, and alternative fuel options for sport-utility vehicles (SUVs), light
trucks, and minivans. The TOPTEC will also review the new, stricter federal
regulations that will require automakers to achieve the same emission
standards for SUVs and light trucks as they do for passenger cars.
The event is of timely interest due to the huge popularity of SUVs and
larger vehicles among American consumers, in spite the rising cost of
gasoline. Predictions about future consumer interest in SUVs will also be
shared.
TOPTEC highlights include keynote presentations by Kenneth R. Katz,
Program Manager for the U.S. Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Program;
and Peter Brown, Associate Publisher of Automotive News.
The TOPTEC(R) is being held concurrently with the SAE Automotive
Manufacturing Conference and Exposition and the SAE Digital Human Modeling for
Design and Engineering event at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn.
