Ward's Reports Estimated Production
    SOUTHFIELD , Mich. , May 26 Vehicle production this week in
the U.S. , Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 346,298 units , down from the 385,348 cars and trucks built last week , according to Ward's
Automotive Reports.
    Including this week's estimates , calendar year North American output now
totals 7,805,444 vehicles , up 3.5 percent from like-1999's pace.
    In the U.S. , automakers are expected to produce 256,348 vehicles this
week , an increase of 2.6 percent from the 293,399 cars and trucks built last
week.  To date , calendar 2000 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated
5,728,203 units , up 2.6 percent from the 5,583,053 vehicles built in like-
1999.
    This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 53,551 , a 0.7
percent decrease from the 53,917 units assembled last week.  Estimated
calendar-2000 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,344,851 units , up
2.5 percent from the 1,311,600 vehicles produced in like-1999.
    Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S. , General Motors Corp. accounted for 29.3 percent; Ford Motor Co. , 32.8 percent;
Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler , 14.8 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc. , 5.4
percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc. , 4.8 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp. , 3.1
percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc. , 2.7 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive
Inc. , 1.6 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc. , 1.5 percent;
AutoAlliance International Inc. , 0.0 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of
DaimlerChrysler , 0.7 percent; BMW of North America Inc. , 0.6 percent; and
other manufacturers , 2.7 percent.
