Pathfinder Air Resources Uses Newest Air Cargo Freighter, MD 11F, Beginning Service From Detroit's Willow Run Airport to Europe, Today
WILLOW RUN AIRPORT, YPSILANTI, Mich.--May 25, 2000--Boasting 25% greater fuel efficiency than other main deck Air Freighters in its 90 ton or greater cargo class, the MD 11F and the newest member of the Pathfinder Air Resources fleet gleams brighter than its older siblings loading at the terminal. "We are fortunate to command the best cargo fleet available, strengthening Detroit position as a primary world trade gateway," said Fred Mills, Chief Operating Officer, Pathfinder Air Resources.The Freighter's cargo will arrive by truck from a radius of about 300 miles around Detroit for Thursday evening's scheduled flight. Configured by Boeing Wichita, this McDonald Douglas 11 Freighter has the latest in cargo loading systems, combined with the Pathfinder Air's JIT ground handling operations at Willow Run Airport, the aircraft boasts a faster loading and unloading efficiency. After its nearly three weeks of flight trials, the Pathfinder Air MD 11F flight will take off at 10:00PM local time and proceed to Ostende, Belgium where the numerous pallets of automotive parts and other manufactured components will be trucked to plants and distribution centers throughout western Europe.
Competition is stiff among international gateways for the limited wide-bodied air freighters with the capacity of this MD 11F. "It is a tribute to the demand for Detroit made products around the globe that allows Pathfinder Air Resources to expand the fleet using the latest freight aircraft technology," said William (Bill) Larkin, President of Pathfinder Air Resources.
