DaimlerChrysler Tries to Add Its Marketing Magic to Mitsubishi

DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi Appoint Three DaimlerChrysler Executives To the MMC-Board of Management
                M. Bischoff, S. Torok and U. Walker Appointed
                      As DaimlerChrysler Representatives

        Final Approval at the MMC-Annual General Meeting in June, 2000

       Juergen E. Schrempp:  'The final talks with MMC are on schedule'

    STUTTGART, Germany, and TOKYO, May 25 DaimlerChrysler and
Mitsubishi appointed Manfred Bischoff (58), Steven A. Torok (48) and Ulrich W.
Walker (48) as future board members for the MMC-Board of Management which will
have 10 members in total.  The final approval for the company's appointees
will be at the Annual General Meeting on the 27th of June, 2000.
    In addition to his current position, Manfred Bischoff will be responsible
for strategic partnerships and alliances in Asia.  His focus will be on
DaimlerChrysler's alliance with Mitsubishi.  Dieter Zetsche remains
responsible for the Asian region.
    Steven A. Torok, currently Vice President Sales and Marketing Operations
and Business Strategy for DaimlerChrysler Corporation, will become Senior Vice
President and Head of International Operations together with Takashi Sonobe as
Executive Director.
    Ulrich W. Walker, currently responsible for Global Services Mercedes-Benz
worldwide, as well as the Corporate Quality Management of DaimlerChrysler,
will become Senior Vice President and Executive Director, with his Japanese
colleague Yuhiko Kiyota, for product planning and marketing.
    "The final talks with Mitsubishi are on schedule and continue to be
cooperative.  With Manfred Bischoff, Steve Torok and Ulrich Walker appointed
to these top executive positions on the MMC-Board of Management, we have
established the fundamentals for a successful cooperation," said Juergen E.
