TRW Extends Its ''Information Partnering'' Approach to the Airframe Industry

CARSON, Calif.--May 24, 2000--The Aerostructures Corporation (TAC), a global aerospace manufacturer based in Nashville, Tenn., has awarded TRW Inc. a $56 million contract to operate and maintain its information technology and telecommunication systems.
With this 10-year, fixed price contract, TRW extends its "Information Partnering" approach - TRW's alternative to traditional IT outsourcing - to another industry. TRW will operate and maintain TAC's information systems and support their desktop computers, data networks, phone system, and help desk.
"We are pleased that Aerostructures selected us as its information partner for the next decade," said Neil Siegel, vice president and general manager, TRW Tactical Systems. "Our Information Partnering business continues to grow as we bring TRW's system engineering approach, program management skills, technology expertise, rapid modernization methods, and lower operating costs to new customers as an 'up-scale' alternative to traditional IT outsourcing."
Aerostructures, a supplier to every major prime airframe contractor in the free world, has more than 50 years experience in designing and building large airframe structures such as wings and tail sections. At least 21 of the company's former employees have been hired by TRW to support the IT modernization activities at the Nashville site.
TRW Inc. provides advanced technology products and services to the automotive, aerospace, and information technology markets worldwide. The company's 1999 sales exceeded $17 billion. For more information, visit http://www.trw.com .
