Dialight, LumiLeds in Marketing Pact

SAN JOSE, Calif.--May 24, 2000--Dialight Corporation and LumiLeds Lighting have entered into an agreement whereby the two companies will jointly market their complete LED traffic signal product lines in North America.
"By effectively expanding our individual product lines and sales channels, we expect to accelerate the adoption of LED traffic signal technology," said Gary Durgin, Dialight's vice president of marketing. "LED signals have already gained widespread acceptance, but we feel we can make even greater strides working with a technology leader like LumiLeds."
Menko de Roos, Business Unit Manager at LumiLeds, added, "Dialight brings to this venture not only its market leadership, but also a complete offering of signals in all three colors and a range of voltages. We are seeking similar partnerships in Europe and Asia to more aggressively promote LED technology on a global basis."
A joint venture between Agilent Technologies, a subsidiary of Hewlett Packard (the nation's leading LED supplier) and Philips Lighting, LumiLeds is dedicated to developing solid-state lighting solutions. The company recently developed a revolutionary package of traffic signal components. At the source of this signal are LumiLeds high-flux LEDs which provide >10x the flux as conventional high-intensity LEDs. The signals offer greater reliability, more uniform illumination, and a wider viewing angle than earlier LED signals. In addition to traffic signals, the company supplies LED lighting for the automotive and signage industries.
Dialight introduced its first LED-based traffic signal in 1994 and has since captured the largest share of the U.S. market. It offers red, green, and amber balls in both 8- and 12-inch sizes, plus arrows and pedestrian signals. ISO 9001-certified, and a subsidiary of the multinational U.K.-based Roxboro Group PLC, the company has more than 60 years of experience in lighting technology and applications, including 25 years of leadership in LED indicators. The company also provides LED lighting for heavy-duty vehicles and other applications.
