Meritor Automotive's Wheel, Roof and Door Systems Groups Honored By General Motors with the 1999 Supplier of the Year Award
    TROY, Mich., May 22 Meritor Automotive
accepted three 1999 Supplier of the Year awards from General Motors
Corporation during ceremonies at the historic PrinzRegenten Theater in Munich,
Germany.  The prestigious award, celebrating its eighth consecutive year, is
given annually to GM's best global suppliers in recognition of their superior
performance during the previous calendar year.
    Three of Meritor Automotive's Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) groups were
recognized this year, including Roof Systems, Door Systems and Wheel Products.
This also marks the second consecutive year that Meritor Wheels business
received GM's "Best of the Best in South America" award and eighth consecutive
year it received the Commodity Award for Metallics.
    Sidney Del Gaudio, general manager, Meritor Wheel Products, accepted the
Metallic Commodity Award; Robert Marty, vice president and general manager,
Meritor Door Systems accepted the Electrical Commodity Award; and Karl
Hoermann, vice president and general manager, Meritor Roof Systems accepted
the Chemical Commodity Award.
    "Meritor is one of our best and brightest suppliers," said Harold R.
Kutner, group vice president, Worldwide Purchasing and North American
Production Control and Logistics, which hosted the event.  "It is an honor to
have them working with us.  Their contributions to General Motors' overall
success are immeasurable.  We look upon the Supplier of the Year award as an
important recognition of their value as a global automotive industry
supplier."

    The GM Supplier of the Year began as a global award program in 1992.  An
international team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing
and logistics, select the award winners based upon supplier performance in
quality, service, technology and price.  This year, GM honored 181 suppliers
from 22 countries for their excellence throughout 1999.
    Meritor LVS -- a $1.6-billion supplier of vehicle aperture and
undercarriage components and systems for cars and light trucks -- is currently
an industry leader in the design and manufacture of roof systems, door
systems, access control systems, suspension systems and wheels.
    The company has the resources and capability to meet the growing need
