Visteon Employees Get 'Hands-On' ExperienceDETROIT, May 19 On Saturday, May 20th, more than 1,200 volunteers will converge on the campus of Wayne State University for Hands on Detroit Day, a project that intends to drive positive change in the city. Visteon Corporation is the Premier Sponsor of this exciting event in which volunteers will take to the streets and participate in a variety of tasks ranging from boxing food for the hungry, planting community gardens, neighborhood cleanup, and tutoring services. Hands on Detroit Day serves as Volunteer Impact's annual fundraiser and this year promises to be the biggest one in its history. Volunteer Impact was founded in 1990 with the purpose of bettering the community through hands on volunteer services. This all-day event is one of the largest volunteer efforts in the city and brings members of the community together to work toward the common goal of making Detroit a better place to live and work. "Visteon is committed to helping improve our community through volunteering time and energy through hands-on projects like this one on Saturday," said Susan Skerker, Senior Vice President, Business Strategy and Corporate Relations. "Although we are a global corporation we pay extra attention to Detroit because it is our 'hometown' and supporting and strengthening communities where we do business is a core company value." Hands on Detroit Day begins at 8:30 a.m. with a kick-off rally at Wayne State University Matthaei Athletic Center. The day will conclude at 2 p.m. with a lunch celebration at each project site.
