Federal-Mogul Named Jasper Preferred Partner
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 18 Federal-Mogul Corporation's
Malden, Missouri, facility was named a Preferred Partner by Jasper
Engines & Transmissions, one of the nation's leading remanufacturers and one
of Federal-Mogul's largest customers. This is the 12th-consecutive year that
Federal-Mogul has been the recipient of the award.
The Preferred Partner Award is presented annually to recognize Jasper's
"Partners in Success." Recipients are nominated by a purchaser within the
Jasper organization and judged on quality, service, fill-rate, response time
and billing/credit procedures, among other criteria.
"We are extremely proud of the strong partnerships we have developed with
our customers," said Michael C. Verwilst, senior vice president, Powertrain
Systems. "This award proves that our efforts to meet and exceed our
customers' expectations are working."
The Federal-Mogul Malden piston plant was one of only 10 Jasper vendors to
receive the award, out of its 3,200 suppliers. "Just two-tenths of one
percent of our vendors have received Preferred Partner Status for this year,"
said Doug Bawel, president of Jasper Engines & Transmissions. "This award is
for the best of the best."
Federal-Mogul's Malden facility is QS 9000 and ISO 9002-certified and
manufactures original-equipment and aftermarket aluminum pistons for small
engines, automotive, high-performance and light-duty diesel applications. Its
400 employees handle the complete manufacturing process from molten aluminum
castings to CNC machining, including tin plate and piston skirt coatings
