URC MAKES ANNUAL STOP AT FONDA ON MAY 27THFonda, NY - Anticipation is high at Fonda Speedway as everyone looks forward to the United Racing Club sprints making their annual stop at the track on May 27, 2000. The URC sprints have been the highlight of the Memorial Day activities at the "Track of Champions" for well over 30 years. The club is in their 53rd season as the nation's oldest traveling sprint car organization. For the past 10 years, Greg Coverdale has been the man to beat at Fonda Speedway in URC racing. Since 1990 Coverdale has won three of the eleven events held at Fonda. This year Coverdale will come to Fonda behind the wheel of the red No. 56 sprinter. The deal is a combination effort by Bill Turpin and Fred Kennedy and is considered to be a super team for the 2000 season. Bill Turpin will build the motors for the team and Fred Kennedy will give the team the financial backing needed and will now play the part of car owner. Greg Coverdale was URC's winningest pilot of 1999. URC 1999 Point Champion, Sean Michael also won the 1999 URC event at Fonda. For 2000, Sean Michael and car owners Pat and Kathy Palladino have put together quite an arsenal including two J & J chassis and a new Don Ott Racing Engine in their effort to win their second URC crown. Sean has already notched wins in two of the four events held this season. BK Leasing, CnB Mushrooms, Jim's Lettering, Krisations Web Design and two new sponsors East Coast Logistics and Ed Wagner Trucking will sponsor Sean Michael and the Palladino Motorsports in their quest for the 2000 title. Look for Sean in the No. 99 sprinter at Fonda. The URC event at Fonda Speedway on May 27th promises to be one of the best on the tour. The 2000 URC roster is made of sprint car veterans that have made the trip to the "Track of Champions" many times, along with 13 rookies that joined the club this season.
