Special Interest Autos Presents Test Drive Books for Classic Cars

17 May 2000

Chrysler High Performance, Mustang, and Corvette First Three Offerings
BENNINGTON, Vt. - Hemmings Motor News, has announced a new series of books
featuring classic American cars including driveReports and in-depth historical
reviews from Special Interest Autos magazine.

The first three titles, "The Hemming Motor News Book of Mustangs," The
Hemmings Motor News Book of Corvettes," and "The Hemmings Motor News Book of
Chrysler Performance Cars" are hot off the press, and they represent the first
three books in a new Hemmings Motor News Collector-Car Series, which will
total 15 titles by 2003.

Built on a foundation of 30 years of Special Interest Autos magazine the
Hemmings Motor News Collector-Car Books is a series thoroughly exploring the
joys and trials of owning and collecting some of America's most sought-after
collector cars. Each book focuses on a model or family of cars, and offers
comprehensive historical in-depth and technical investigations and modern-day
driving impressions.

Each driveReport includes a variety of specification tables and
entertaining sidebars. More than 200 classic photos are crammed into each
edition, with the reviews authored by some of America's finest auto
journalists, such as Mike Lamm, Mike Cook, Rich Taylor, Dave Brownell, and
Arch Brown. In addition to the driveReports, there are head-to-head match-ups
pitting the featured marques against other cars of the time.

Priced at only $14.95, this book runs counter to the trend of increasingly
expensive automotive hobbyists books currently available. The next three
books in the series -- due out in Fall 2000 -- will feature luxurious
Cadillacs, noteworthy Studebakers, and fascinating post-WWII Fords.

Since 1954, Hemmings Motor News has served the collector-car hobby as its
primary trading place and currently carries over 800 pages of hobby
advertising each month to a paid circulation of nearly 260,000 and readership
over 500,000. Loaded with tens of thousands of classified and display ads for
collector cars, trucks and motorcycles, parts and services, clubs and events,
and other hard-to-find resources for the hobbyist, Hemmings has become
indispensable to the collector car enthusiast.

Along with the monthly Hemmings Motor News and bi-monthly Special Interest
Autos, the company also publishes the Hemmings' Vintage Auto Almanac, the
world's most complete directory for the collector-car hobby and industry, as
well as Hemmings Rods & Performance, a hobby/industry directory for street rod
enthusiasts.
