Toyota Certified Used Vehicle Program Reports Best-Ever April Sales

    TORRANCE, Calif. - Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., today reported best-ever 
April sales for Toyota Certified Used Vehicles.

    April sales of Toyota Certified Used Vehicles totaled 13,524, an increase
of 29.9 percent compared to April 1999.  Calendar-year-to-date sales total
51,414, up 44.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

    "As dealer participation continues to grow, more and more consumers will
have the opportunity to choose from used vehicles that have been carefully
selected from the finest Toyotas available," said Guillermo Hysaw, TMS
corporate manager, used vehicle operations department.  "April marks the 14th
consecutive month in which Toyota Certified Used Vehicle sales exceeded 10,000
units, and we are eager to see what the coming months will bring."

    The Toyota Used Vehicle process, established in 1996, continues to provide
the best pre-owned warranty in the industry.  The warranty, from date of first
use, includes six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain coverage, as well as an
optional comprehensive 100,000-mile vehicle service agreement.  And, 24-hour
roadside assistance also is provided free of charge for one year.

    All 1995-2000 models with less than 65,000 miles are eligible for the
program.  Prior to sale, each vehicle receives a rigorous 128-point inspection
of all mechanical and safety functions, as well as overall appearance
considerations.
