Allied Holdings Appoints Doug Lauer Senior Vice President of E-BusinessDECATUR, Ga., May 17 Allied Holdings, Inc. , parent company of the world's largest automotive distribution and logistics network, today announced the appointment of Doug Lauer to the newly created position of senior vice president of e-business. Lauer, previously president of Allied's Link Information Systems, Inc. subsidiary, will retain the title of chief information officer at Allied Holdings. Randall E. West, president and chief operating officer of Allied Holdings, said: "Doug has been integral to the development of Allied's e-business strategy and has helped to propel the company to new heights in integrated logistics technology. We believe that his extensive background in transportation, logistics and information technology make him the perfect choice to lead our new initiative in e-business." Lauer, who joined Allied in 1996, previously held positions at Exel Logistics, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Cass Logistics. He was named 1999 Georgia CIO of the Year by the Georgia and Atlanta chambers of commerce and awarded "Information Technology Professional of the Year" by the American Trucking Association (ATA) in May 2000. In addition, Allied announced that John W. (Wes) Berry was named senior vice president of Link Information Systems. He will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Link, which develops and manages computer systems that provide real-time information to Allied Holdings and its subsidiaries. Berry, who joined Allied in 1998, has 25 years of experience in information technology with SITA and Delta Air Lines.
