Isuzu Motors America Promotes Oda to CEO

    CERRITOS, Calif. - Norihiko Oda has been appointed Chairman, Chief Executive 
Officer, Isuzu Motors America, Inc. (ISZA).  Hiroo Majima has been named 
President, Chief Operating Officer, having previously held the title of 
President.

    Oda is a career Isuzu executive and formerly served as Executive Vice
President, Product Engineering, Corporate Affairs and Legal.  A graduate of
Tokyo University, Oda has been living in the United States since 1985.  He is
an avid automotive and airplane enthusiast and pilot.  He is credited with
designing Isuzu's successful Group 6 racing car in the 1970's.

    "Isuzu is a recognized sport-utility and commercial vehicle leader, and
internationally recognized for its diesel technologies and manufacturing
capabilities.  This year, Isuzu Motors America's joint venture project with
General Motors, DMAX, Ltd., will begin production of a new diesel engine.
This project is a stepping stone for Isuzu as it explores other opportunities
in the North American Market.  I look forward to building upon ISZA's prior
successes," said Oda.

    Isuzu Motors America, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Isuzu Motors
Limited, a world leader in diesel engine technology development, production
and design, manufacturing of world class sport utility vehicles and industry-
leading commercial vehicles.  In addition to sales of domestically produced
vehicles and engines, Isuzu Motors America, Inc. conducts automotive research
and design; imports vehicles, diesel engines, and service parts for distribution 
to Isuzu commercial vehicle, SUV and diesel engine distributors nationwide 
through American Isuzu Motors Inc.  Isuzu Motors America, Inc. also purchases 
and sells vehicles from and to partners GM and Honda.  In 1998 DMAX,
Ltd. was set up jointly by Isuzu Motors America, Inc. and GM to manufacture
diesel engines in North America.
