US Fuel Cell Council Growing RapidlyWASHINGTON, May 15 The US Fuel Cell Council (USFCC) has added eight new member companies to its roster. Formed in 1998, with 14 original members, the Council now boasts 47 member companies. As the trade association for the fuel cell industry, the Council membership includes virtually all the major developers of fuel cell technology, key industry suppliers, and potential customers. At its annual meeting in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, May 3rd and Thursday, May 4th, the Council's Board of Directors approved its latest members and elected officers for the year. "Interest in the emerging fuel cell market is driven by the technological leadership of our members," said Peter Ciampa of Delphi Automotive Systems, newly elected President of the USFCC Board of Directors. "Mirroring the diversity and dynamism of the fuel cell industry, Council members are developing several different fuel cell technologies while targeting stationary, transportation and portable power markets. The Council is leading the charge to break down any remaining barriers to market introduction and is providing a voice for this burgeoning industry." The newest members of the USFCC approved by the Board of Directors are: GE Micro Generation of Latham, New York; Methanex Corporation of Vancouver, Canada; Enable Fuel Cell Corp. (a subsidiary of DCH Technology) of Valencia, California and Madison, Wisconsin; Houston Advanced Research Center of Woodlands, Texas; California Air Resources Board; Eaton Corporation Innovation Center of Southfield, Michigan; IdaTech (formerly Northwest Power Systems) of Bend, Oregon; and Porvair Advanced Materials of Hendersonville, North Carolina. The USFCC Directors also elected the following officers: President -- Peter Ciampa of Delphi Automotive Systems; Secretary -- Eric Simpkins of FuelCell Energy, Inc.; and Treasurer -- Paul Force of Conti Enterprises, Inc.
