Chrome Data Corporation and the Cobalt Group Announce Partnership to Integrate Car Configurator On Dealer Web Sites
PORTLAND, Ore.--May 15, 2000--Specification Information on Thousands of Dealer Web Sites
Chrome Data Corporation, the automotive industry's most accurate independent business-to-business provider of data and software for selling cars online, and The Cobalt Group , a leading provider of Internet-based business-to-business services to the automotive industry, today announced an agreement to implement Chrome's data and configuration tool, Web Carbook(TM), in Cobalt-built dealer Web sites.
With more than 5,600 dealer Web site customers, Cobalt is the leading provider of automotive dealer Web sites. Cobalt will include Web Carbook in its dealer Web site product offerings. Web Carbook allows individual dealer sites and portals to provide prospective car buyers with specifications on vehicle makes and models and standard and optional equipment, as well as vehicle pictures and the industry's most accurate invoice and MSRP pricing.
"Our venture with Cobalt demonstrates Chrome's position as the accepted data standard for the automotive e-commerce industry," said Bob Navarre, CEO of Chrome Data. "Cobalt's Web site design acumen, coupled with the comprehensive data provided by Web Carbook, will be a tremendous tool for dealers to compete successfully online."
"Cobalt's technology gives dealers an edge in automotive e-commerce by providing them with the fundamental Web development and management tools they need to establish dynamic online operations," said John Holt, president and CEO of The Cobalt Group. "With Web Carbook, dealers can be sure they are providing customers with the most up-to-date and accurate new vehicle configuration and pricing information available on the Internet. Car shoppers will be able to obtain consistent vehicle information directly on dealers' Web sites, leading towards increased direct sales by dealers to online shoppers. Why go to a third party site when you can get accurate data straight from a dealer?"
