Mold-Masters Limited Engages with SDRC in Partnership for Competitive Excellence

    CINCINNATI--May 10, 2000--

Mold-Masters Commences Partnership with e-Business Initiative for
Automated On-Line Ordering System

SDRC , a global supplier of e-business collaboration solutions for the product lifecycle, today announced that Mold-Masters Limited, of Georgetown, Ontario, Canada has engaged in a Partnership for Competitive Excellence with SDRC. As part of this agreement, Mold-Masters will be deploying SDRC's I-DEAS(R) e-Design Automation software and SDRC ExperTeam(SM) services globally to facilitate its e-business initiative to fully automate the on-line ordering process of its hot runner products via the Internet. The approximate value of the initial orders for software and services is $600K.
Mold-Masters is the world's leading innovator and manufacturer of hot runner technology for the global plastics industry. A hot runner system maintains the temperature and flow properties of plastic within a mold base assembly to make a consistent and accurate mold. Hot runners are used worldwide in the injection molding of high-quality thermoplastic components for the automotive, medical, electronics, packaging and consumer products industries. In North America alone, the manufacturing of plastic products is a $300 billion industry.
"SDRC was the only company able to provide us with a total, integrated solution which could be implemented in a way that was consistent with our business objectives," said Jonathon Fischer, President of Mold-Masters. "At Mold-Masters, innovation is vital -- not only in the engineering and manufacturing of our hot runners, but in the ways we interact with and support our customers."
"Mold-Masters has earned a reputation for technology leadership and innovation in every aspect of their hot runner business," said Bill Weyand, chairman, president, and CEO, SDRC. "They demonstrate a commitment to world-class products and services, and plan to maintain their on-going success through increased innovation. This is a great match for SDRC and our solutions, and we're very pleased to be partnering with Mold-Masters in their e-business initiative."
Mold-Masters will unveil a global initiative that will revolutionize the way customers specify, buy, operate and maintain their hot runners at the upcoming NPE 2000 plastics industry show, June 19-23 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, setting a new benchmark for customer satisfaction in the hot runner industry.
