IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY 2000 SCHEDULE CHANGES: FIVE AMERICAN RACE TRUCK EVENTS ADDED SUPERMODIFIED RACING LEAGUE SETS OCTOBER 21 VISIT TO "IS" Irwindale, Calif. - - (May 11, 2000) Irwindale Speedway today announced the addition of five American Race Truck events (June 17, August 26, September 16, November 3 & 4) and an additional Supermodified Racing League event scheduled for October 21. The November 3 & 4 American Race Truck event will be a two day National Championship Finals race with practice, qualifying, and preliminary heat races on Friday night and the championship event on Saturday night. "American Race Trucks have proven to be real crowd-pleasers here," said Irwindale Director of Competition Chris Morgan. "These full size racing pickups colorful, competitive, and exciting. We're very proud to have been chosen again as the site for their championship event. We're really looking forward to hosting the 2000 ART Nationals here at the Speedway." The souped-up lightning streaks of the Supermodified Racing League stormed into the Speedway earlier this year and left everyone asking for more. "That's why we've added an October (21) date for these awesome racing machines," said Morgan. They are the absolute fastest race cars that run here at IS (Troy Regier of Dinuba holds the ultimate track record at 15.154 sec. 118.781 mph), and we just had to get them back on our schedule for one more race this year." A correction to the schedule should make the November 11 NASCAR Home Depot Winston West season finale race a 300 lap event, rather than a 250 as previously indicated in some earlier versions of the 2000 schedule.
