Osthaus Appointed GM, Product Management, for Mercedes-Benz

Osthaus Appointed General Manager, Product Management, Passenger Cars and Light Trucks for Mercedes-Benz USA
    MONTVALE, N.J., May 10 Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) announced
the appointment of Burkhard Osthaus to general manager, product management,
passenger cars and light trucks at the company's Montvale, N.J. headquarters.
Osthaus succeeds Ken Enders, who is now MBUSA's vice president of marketing,
also at the company's headquarters.
    As general manager of the product management area, Osthaus will be
responsible for product planning, positioning and pricing; volume planning;
market research and all U.S. product launches.
    Osthaus began his automotive career in 1985 as a commercial apprentice for
a Mercedes-Benz retail center in Heidelberg, Germany.  After graduating from
college, he began working for Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart as a marketing and
sales trainee in 1993 and has held various positions with the company
including chief of staff to Juergen Hubbert, board of management member in
charge of Mercedes-Benz passenger car division, DaimlerChrysler.  His most
recent position was senior manager, market management in Stuttgart where he
was responsible for the international allocation of Mercedes-Benz vehicles to
accomplish marketing and profit objectives for the U.S., Canada, Mexico,
Brazil, Argentina and Japan.
    Osthaus holds an M.B.A. from University of Mannheim in marketing and
international management.
    Born in Munster/Westphalia, Germany, Osthaus and his family will be
relocating to Armonk, N.Y.
