DaimlerChrysler Announces Key Manufacturing Positions
    *  Thomas W. LaSorda Appointed a Senior Vice President in Manufacturing
    *  Carlos Lobo named President and CEO - New Venture Gear, Inc.

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 10 DaimlerChrysler is pleased to
announce that effective immediately, Thomas W. LaSorda is appointed a Senior
Vice President in Manufacturing with an initial focus on power train
manufacturing, reporting to Gary L. Henson.
    "Tom's appointment is very significant," said Henson, Executive Vice
President - Manufacturing.  "He brings broad automotive experience to
DaimlerChrysler, having most recently served as General Motors' Vice President
- Quality, Reliability & Competitive Operations Implementation.  We expect Tom
to make major contributions in what promises to be a very challenging future."
    At GM, LaSorda's career included various manufacturing and quality related
assignments in the U.S., Canada and Europe.  LaSorda's overseas experience
included responsibility for planning and the execution of a new manufacturing
assembly plant for Opel Eisenach GMBH in Germany, where he served as
President.
    With LaSorda's appointment DaimlerChrysler announces that Carlos Lobo
leaves his current post as Senior VP - Power Train Manufacturing and moves to
President and CEO - New Venture Gear, Inc. (NVG).
    "We are very pleased to have Carlos assume responsibility for all New
Venture Gear operations," said Henson.  "Carlos brings important experience in
power train engineering to his new role running an important supplier to
DaimlerChrysler."
    Lobo succeeds Fred L. Hubacker, who is appointed Chief Administrative
Officer for NVG, with responsibility for Finance, Human Resources, Legal,
Information Technology and Sales, Marketing and Customer Satisfaction.
