Hasbro Interactive's NASCAR HEAT Sizzles
10 May 2000
LOS ANGELES--ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO--Put yourself in a 200 mph traffic jam! Your heart is pounding, sweat drips down your face, and your knuckles hurt from clenching the steering wheel as you come off turn four -- you're experiencing NASCAR HEAT!
Hasbro Interactive's much anticipated NASCAR title, set to debut this fall, promises to bring a unique stock car racing experience to game fans. To initially be published on both Windows(R) 95/98 based PCs and the PlayStation(R) video game console and on the PlayStation 2(R) in early 2001, Hasbro Interactive has delivered a racing line-up that includes the hottest tracks and drivers in NASCAR.
"We've put together the finest and most revolutionary NASCAR game available on the market," said Tom Dusenberry, President of Hasbro Interactive. "Between licensing agreements, technical direction and the retention of the finest talent in motorsports game development (Monster Games, Blue Fang Games, Digital Illusions), we're in for a truly special motorsports experience. The NASCAR HEAT game is an impressive title that offers the most fun to both experienced video gamers and novice players alike. Don't just watch a NASCAR event, be a part of it."
Unique Beat The Heat challenges allow the player to experience top NASCAR driver's most thrilling moments through scenarios introduced by the famous drivers themselves. Beating the challenge moves the player deeper into the NASCAR HEAT gaming experience.
Race The Pros allows players to match their skills against the fastest laps that NASCAR drivers were able to record on the track. As players race they will learn how the pros attacked driving the track and will thus learn from the best.
Additionally, the NASCAR HEAT game provides both Normal Mode and Expert Mode, making the game immensely approachable while still giving the player the adrenaline thrill of NASCAR's in-the-pack racing style and opportunity to control all aspects of a high-end racing machine. In Normal Mode, computer opponents adapt to a player's skill level, keeping the player in the pack and close to the action - as the player gets better, so do the computer-controlled opponents.
"When I agreed to participate in the creation of the NASCAR HEAT game, my goal was to help make a game that would give me a feeling that was as close as possible to being in my Interstate Batteries Pontiac and I think we've captured that feeling perfectly in NASCAR HEAT," said Bobby Labonte, top NASCAR driver and chief technical advisor for the NASCAR HEAT game.
The NASCAR HEAT game is scheduled for release on the PC and PlayStation video game console during the holiday season in 2000. See and play NASCAR HEAT in Hasbro Interactive's booth (946 South Hall) at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
