Land Rover Asheville Named Top Land Rover Retailer in U.S.

9 May 2000

FLETCHER, N.C. - At a ceremony on Saturday, May 6, 2000, retailer principal
Jack L. Frasher, Centre manager Roger Miller and the staff of Land Rover
Asheville were presented with the Land Rover Trophy, an annual award
recognizing the top-performing Land Rover retailer in North America. The
impressive bronze sculpture, a traveling trophy that features plaques
commemorating former winners, will reside at the western North Carolina-based
Land Rover retailer until another Land Rover Trophy winner is selected.

"For us, this award is validation of our vision and philosophy," said
Roger Miller, Centre manager. "It is validation of everything this team has
done to make our Centre a living, breathing extension of the Land Rover way.
We have a philosophy and a culture that makes it all work. And our customers
are the real winners. They are what this is all about."

The Land Rover Trophy is the highest award possible in Land Rover's Marque
of Distinction program, which was launched in 1996 as an effort to recognize
excellence among Land Rover's many retailers. Sixteen measurements-assessing
everything from customer satisfaction to market penetration-are used to gauge
the performance of Land Rover's 121 U.S. retailers for the Marque of
Distinction program. In the past twelve months, Land Rover Asheville
accumulated 8,694 points out a possible 10,000, registering very high scores
in areas such as customer satisfaction, sales satisfaction and market
penetration.

Howard Mosher, president of Land Rover North America, Inc., noted, "The
people at the retail level carry Land Rover's value to our customers each and
every day. Land Rover Asheville is a great team-one that typifies how a
dedicated, energetic, enthusiastic group can work together to provide Land
Rover customers with a truly magical vehicle ownership experience."

Land Rover Asheville, located on Highway 280 near the Asheville Regional
Airport, employs 14 people and opened in January 1998. As a small but growing
Centre, Land Rover Asheville exceeds national and regional market penetration
levels.

Land Rover North America, Inc., established in 1986, imports Range Rover
and Discovery Series II vehicles manufactured in Solihull, England, for sale
in the U.S. and is a wholly owned subsidiary of The BMW Group, Munich,
Germany.
