The Rise of the Internet Vehicle to be Focus of Special Sessions At June 19-21 eAutoWorld Conference in Chicago
RICHMOND, Va., May 8 The rapid innovation of the Internet
is dramatically transforming the interiors and communication capabilities of
the cars and trucks of the future. A revolution in vehicle communications and
multimedia entertainment is underway, giving rise to the Internet vehicle, or
iVehicle(TM).
Automotive experts agree that the Internet commands a central role in the
future of automobiles and will be discussing the specifics during a special
track of the upcoming eAutoWorld conference from June 19-21, 2000 at the Hyatt
Regency Hotel in Chicago.
The conference will feature 10 separate sessions focused on the present
and the future of the iVehicle. Topics to be explored include telematics (the
flow of information to and from motor vehicles), the wireless in-vehicle web,
new technology involving safety/security, related telematics products and
services as well as mobile multimedia.
"The iVehicle represents one of the most exciting and influential
developments today," said Greg Colizzi, vice president of eAutoWorld. "Since
telematics and related technologies will have such a profound impact on
drivers of the future, we have developed a comprehensive group of workshops
and presentations to fully explore what it is going to mean -- from safety to
in-vehicle entertainment to privacy issues."
Speakers for the iVehicle sessions include Joe Guglielmi, executive vice
president of IESS Motorola; Karenann Terrell, director and eVehicle product
manager for the eGM unit of General Motors; and Peter Holland, president and
chief executive officer of Infomove.
The event is being sponsored by eMarketWorld.com in collaboration with its
advisory board, which includes executives from IBM, Cars.com, i2 Technologies,
DaimlerChrysler, Magna Symatec, Gemini Consulting, PickupTruck.com,
VerticalNet, Forrester Research and Motorola.
Registration for the eAutoWorld show is $1,295, which includes admission
for more than 60 presentations and workshops as well as the exposition floor,
featuring displays from 75 companies. To register for eAutoWorld, or for
additional information, contact 800-942-9770 or http://www.eAutoWorld.com.
