"My relationship with BMW Manufacturing goes back to 1992 when I was in
the planning department and BMW first had the idea for a plant in the U.S.
And as the plant began to produce cars in the fall of 1994, I worked with a
team of Assembly managers to move those first vehicles into the market, " Dr.
Leube said.

"I am so pleased to come to the South Carolina plant where so much has
been accomplished."

Dr. Reithofer, 43, was named in March to BMW's Board of Management as the

factories throughout the world.

operating officer and was named president in April 1998. He began his career
with BMW in 1987, having served in various capacities in BMW's Munich plant
and as managing director for production at the South African plant.

BMW Manufacturing Corp. is a subsidiary of BMW AG, Munich, and is one of
15 worldwide factories in the BMW Group. In addition to the South Carolina
manufacturing facility, BMW's North American subsidiaries include sales,
marketing and financial services operations in the United States, Canada and
throughout Latin America; an information technology consulting and systems
integration firm in South Carolina; a production facility in Mexico; and a
